Printer claims new duplex speed record
Oce' last week launched its VarioPrint 6250 printer, claimed as the world's fastest duplex printer and suitable for production volumes of between 600,000 and 8 million prints per month, producing 250 duplex A4 or 132 duplex A3 prints per minute. The Oce' VarioPrint 6250 is claimed to be 70 percent faster than all other high volume printers on average, enabling customers to significantly grow their business. Oce' introduced the product at a regional event in Kuala Lumpur, where a spokesman said the VarioPrint 6250 would offer new opportunities to Asian commercial printshops, giving them the opportunity to grow their business by taking on more jobs, producing more double-sided output in less time.
Another key market for the Oce' VarioPrint 6250 was the in-house corporate print room, where higher speed duplex printing will mean more efficient production of manuals and technical documentation. The unit also offers new business opportunities to graphic arts printers in the production of short-run digital books.
Oce' said that market studies revealed that across Asia over 80 percent of the output on high volume cut-sheet systems were double-sided prints, whereas all existing systems were designed for simplex printing. The Oce' VarioPrint 6250 uses Oce' Gemini Instant Duplex technology to press toner images into both sides of the paper instantaneously, for print registration and offset-like quality.
The VarioPrint 6250 printer has capacity for larger media sizes such as A3, ledger and RA3 and supports A4, letter, A3, ledger, oversized and custom size media as well as tabs and inserts from any of its 12 trays. Users can load up to 13,800 sheets of any size at once to promote unattended printing for up to four hours, according to an Oce' press statement.
This printer will be available here from the second quarter of this year.
