THE HEART OF THAILAND
SAMILA SUTTISILTUM
After immense success with his exhibition at the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, Kalasin-born Jay Surasen is holding a new exhibition in honour of His Majesty the King's 80th birthday.
Titled "Thailand's Heart", the exhibition comprises 80 works of art, created in six months, depicting His Majesty's work for the people. A few of the paintings also include Her Majesty the Queen. Some impressionist pieces were inspired by the love of the people for His Majesty. All the paintings were created using acrylic paint and Chinese brushes on canvas, a technique that Jay is well-known for.
"Thailand's Heart" was officially opened yesterday by Sumet Tantivejkul, secretary-general of the Chaipattana Foundation.
'Thailand's Heart' runs until February 28, on the mezzanine floor, Sofitel Central Plaza, from 10am to 9pm. For more information, call 02-937-2222, ext 4277 or 4208. Part of the proceeds from the sale of artworks will benefit the Chaipattana Foundation.
