Lovers commit double suicide

By Theerapol Kumsuk

Two lovers in Suphan Buri's U Thong district have committed suicide in what is seen as a tragic prelude to Valentine's Day this Wednesday. The couple, identified as Thirapat Puisri, 31, from Kamphaeng Phet province, and Puangrat sae Sue, 26, a Suphan Buri native, were found hanging by their necks from a tree yesterday.

Police found three suicide notes in the pockets of their trousers, saying farewell to their parents and friends, and asking them to arrange a funeral, place their coffins side by side and cremate their bodies together.

A three-metre-long nylon rope and a plastic bucket lying upside down were also found at the scene.

Buathong Chuadharn, 44, Puangrat's mother, said her daughter, who had been working as a hairdresser in Bangkok, had suffered from an incurable disease of some kind.

She met Thirapat, who also worked in Bangkok, and fell in love with him several years ago.

The two returned to Suphan Buri on Wednesday.

Police believe Puangrat, who was plagued with illnesses, decided to take her own life and made her intention known to her boyfriend, who agreed to die with her.
