How the winners are chosen
The annual Post/Lipper Awards are a collaborative effort between Post Publishing Plc, the publisher of the Bangkok Post and Post Today daily newspapers, and Lipper, a global leader in the mutual fund information industry. Awards highlight the best funds in the fixed-income, equity and mixed-asset categories over three-, five- and 10-year periods. Awards are also offered to the asset management firms showing the strongest performance over a three-year period for their respective classification.
Winners are selected based on the Lipper Consistent Return measure, a risk-adjusted return performance measure that takes into account both short- and long-term risk-adjusted performance relative to their classification peers. For details on the awards' methodology, see
http://awards.lipperweb.com/thailand.
All funds registered for sale in Thailand with a three-year history as of the end of 2006 are eligible for the awards.
To be eligible for an asset class group award, the groups need at least three distinct portfolios in one of the asset classes: equity, bond, or mixed-asset. To be eligible for an overall group award, the groups need at least three equity, three bond, and three mixed-asset funds.
The Post/Lipper Awards are part of Lipper's global fund awards programme, which covers 21 countries and regions.
Lipper, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reuters, is a global leader in supplying fund information, analytical tools and commentary to fund companies, financial intermediaries and media organisations. Lipper tracks 148,000 funds worldwide through its offices in Europe, Asia and the United States.
