AIR FORCE / BOEING 737-800 COMMISSIONED
Brand new jet arrives for use by Royal Family
A new Boeing jet for Their Majesties the King and Queen arrived at Don Muang air force base yesterday. The air force decided to commission the US-made jet for royal trips as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations for His Majesty's accession to the throne.
Deputy air force chief ACM Akkharachai Sakulrat presided over a ceremony to receive the new Boeing 737-800 yesterday.
The procurement committee wanted a jet providing the maximum in safety and efficiency to serve the Royal Family and opted for the US-based Boeing Co to build the aircraft. Experts from Boeing and the air force made test runs of the jet to ensure that it met international standards.
Air force chief ACM Chalit Phukphasuk flew to the United States to inspect the jet's production process. He also checked the installation of equipment, facilities and decorations on the jet before its delivery to Thailand.
