INTERNET SITE OF THE WEEK

KARNJANA KARNAJANTAWE

When you encounter unfamiliar words that are not in your dictionary, where do you turn for the definition? For me, it's the answers.com web site.

Answers.com offers not only the meaning of words, but I can also click on links to see an image, news or a web site related to the word that I am looking for.

For example, when I search for the meaning of words like "kloof" and "choli", it provides a definition as well as correct pronunciation, pictures from Google and more information from Wikipedia.

In addition, if a word contains more than one meaning, it will explain the various definitions that had been used historically up until the current meaning of the word.

You can also look up idioms and terms used in speciality fields such as medicine or business.

On the opening page of Answers.com is a daily feature article, which you can also get delivered via email. Other updates include news, "today in history" and the birth dates off famous people.

For those who enjoy learning new words, there is an interactive game that encouraging this, as well as weather forecasts, and currency and measurement conversions.

The web site also offers a search service by category, which comprises Business, Entertainment, Food, Games, Health, People, Places, Reference, Science and Shopping. And if you download the pop-out AnswerBar, you will get a short cut to the right answers at your disposal.
