Operatic tribute to HM's sister

Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana will be celebrating her 84th birthday on May 5. To mark this auspicious occasion the Italian embassy and the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation are organising a 'Gran Gala d'Operetta' on May 7 at the Thailand Cultural Centre.

Stefano Sovrani, founder and conductor of the Nova Amadeus Symphonic Orchestra from Italy, will lead musicians from the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra in a thrilling performance of pieces from well-known operas by composers from Italy and other parts of Europe. Italian sopranos Piera Grifasi and Cosetta Gigli and popular tenor Daniele Penco will be on hand to interpret an ensemble of lyrical masterpieces ranging from operas like Giuseppe Verdi's 'La Traviata' and Giacomo Puccini's 'Tosca' to Rossini's 'Tarantella'.

The concert will be held in the TCC's main hall and will begin at 8pm. The event has received the kind support of B Grimm & Co and TurismoAsia.
