BEEN THERE, DONE THAT ANGKHANG'S ROYAL AGRICULTURAL STATION

1 Moo 5, Mae Ngon-Angkhang Road, Mae Ngon sub-district, Fang district, Chiang Mai, 50320 Tel: 053-450-107 to 9; fax: 053-450-106; email: info@angkhang.com; web site: http://www.angkhang.com.

Situated in the Doi Angkhang valley in Fang district, around three hours drive from Chiang Mai city, the Royal Agricultural Station is a popular stop for travellers who love expansive flower gardens.

The station has various types of accommodation starting from rooms for two persons up to a big house that can take in 47 persons.

We consider ourselves lucky compared to some of our colleagues who could not book a room at the station which is essentially a farm research centre. Given its high reputation and famous flower gardens, we were curious and looked forward to our stay with great anticipation.

We can not speak for others, but for somebody who had booked a month in advance, we expected everything in good condition. But our room (Rim Doi 4) was a disappointment and we had to leave the place just after one night even though we had booked for two.
