Nippon Oil investment PETROLEUM :Nippon Oil Corp, Japan's biggest refiner, has announced that it has acquired a 40% interest in an offshore oil block owned by PTTEP Siam Ltd, a subsidiary of PTT Exploration And Production Plc.

Nippon Oil said it planned to increase output from the Nang Nual oilfield. It did not provide a value for the transaction. BLOOMBERG

Mazda bookings healthy

AUTOMOBILES :Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co said it received a good response from the recent Bangkok Motor Expo with 768 units booked, due mainly to the attractive pricing of its E20-compliant Mazda3.

Visitors to the show that ended on Dec 10 booked 531 Mazda3 sport sedans, while the company also reported 11 bookings for its Mazda MX-5 sport roadster and 226 bookings of Mazda BT-50 pickup trucks, including all 100 of the special-edition Zeigo model.

Mazda's total sales in the first 11 months this year were 13,507 units, exceeding its target for the full year and accounting for a 2.4% share of the overall Thai automobile market.

The total included 10,656 Mazda BT-50s, 2,820 Mazda3 sedans, plus 31 units of the Mazda MX-5 and Mazda RX-8 rotary engine models.
