iPod speakers not all created equal

Munich (dpa) - Speaker systems for the iPod can vary greatly in sound quality.

For that reason, music fans should determine before making their purchase how they intend to use the sound system.

That was the finding of a comparative test done recently by Munich-based Macwelt magazine. Devices appropriate for a garden party are not always appropriate for the office or for on the go. Different musical styles can also require different volume levels.

Listening to the sound in person before making a purchase is key, the magazine noted. The test examined 18 loudspeaker systems in all.
