AIRPORTS BOARD

Reshuffle sees exit of 3 big names

AMORNRAT MAHITTHIROOK

Architect Tortrakul Yomnak, national police chief Seripisuth Temiyavej and chief of the Civil Aviation Department Chaisak Angsuwan are on their way out as Airports of Thailand (AoT) board members in part of a compulsory shuffle. As the 15-member board has already served its one-year term, one-third, or five seats, must be vacated.

The five members who lost their seats through the lot-drawing process were former attorney-general Khamphee Kaewcharoen and former director of the Office of the Auditor-General Nonthapol Nimsomboon, in addition to Mr Tortrakul, Pol Gen Seripisuth and Mr Chaisak.

An AoT source said the Transport Ministry had nominated four new board members and wanted Mr Nonthapol to return for another term, but this was blocked by other board members. Mr Nonthapol was finally allowed to sit on the board, as was Mr Khamphee.

The three replacements are deputy attorney-general Thaworn Panichaphan, transport inspector-general Supoj Saplom and director of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning Maitree Srinarawat.
