School band wins world title

The marching band from Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) school has shone again in the 2007 World Marching Show Band Competition in Malaysia, beating 2,500 participants to grab the championship title. The two-time world champions also brought home awards in the categories of best percussion, parade, style and general effect in the competition, which ran from Dec 9-16.

School director Amornrat Pin-ngern said the school band narrowly triumphed over a Malaysian team in yesterday's final.

The 120 members had prepared for the event for months, rehearsing selected marching songs and parading again and again.

He attributed the success to the school's continual support for the band and its long experience at national and international levels.

The Kuala Lumpur competition was supported by the World Association of Marching Show Bands, which promotes the development of marching bands worldwide.
