TOT action plan stresses convergence

TOT Plc says it will adjust its turnaround plan by focusing on convergence services, internet-based television and applications.

Col Natee Sukolrat, the TOT board spokesman, said the decisions were based on a recent visit to British Telecom, Vodafone and France Telecom to learn from their operations.

He said that the turnaround plan submitted to Tris Rating last month emphasising broadband internet lacked clarity. After seeing the operations of British Telecom, TOT felt it needed to clearly define its plan of action.

Col Natee said that TOT would focus on the convergence of its fixed line and mobile service. It would also emphasise its IP television and mobile applications, which it believed would have strong chance of success. He said TOT would not stress broadband speed for its broadband packages, but would instead emphasise applications.

However, he still could not say how it could develop the applications saying it might need co-operation from experienced developers.

TOT has 400,000 broadband service users.
