Don't fall victim to temptation

Don't fall victim to temptation

Lack of knowledge and greed are the main factors luring investors into the traps set by illegal chit funds.

Charuphan Intararoong, director of corporate affairs at the SEC, says people should be extremely cautious when invited to make any kind of investment:

- There is no free lunch. Any investment offering unusually high returns or dividends should be suspect.

- There is no substitute for research. How much do you know about the investment you're being offered?

- All investments bear risks, especially those promising high returns.

- Always research the company or agent involved. Do they have the legal rights or licences to conduct business?

- If you're in doubt, contact the SEC Help Center at 0-2263-6000, the Hotline at 1359 or the website at http://www.sec.or.th
