The history of Angkor Wat, a Unesco World Heritage site, comes to life in the new light-and-sound show presented by Bayon CM Organiser.

The 50-minute-show is presented in six scenes taking you back to the golden age of Cambodia.

Among the highlights is the "discovery" of the Angkor complex in 1860 by Alexandre Henri Mouhot, a French naturalist who made a journey of exploration into the regions of Siam and Laos, and then Cambodia.

With more than 150 Cambodian dancers plus a crew of 100, the spectacular show combines traditional Khmer dance with the high-technology of light and sound projection onto a waterfall and the stone architecture of Angkor Wat.

The show runs until February 20 at Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Tickets ranging from US$60 (Bt2,000) to $80 are available at Thaiticketmajor.com.

Amsterdam-based artist Chavalit Soemprungsuk returns to Bangkok to celebrate the New Year with his solo show, "Chavalit S68" at Jamjuree Art Gallery. The 68-year-old painter is known for his abstract works, emphasising the uses of lines, colours and forms.

The show runs until January 13. The gallery, located close to MBK Centre, is open weekdays 10am to 7pm and weekends noon to 6pm.

Party up a storm

New club Overtone Music Cave on

Royal City Avenue presents a live music show by veteran Thai artists, ranging from rock to jazz, running from 10.30pm daily until Monday . The programme includes The Olarn Project, which performs tonight, heavy metal Tornado Heavy tomorrow, Sillyfools on Sunday and The Sun and special guests will perform on New Year's Eve.

Tickets are Bt300 and Bt500, inclusive of two drinks.
