FROC s latest updates on flood in Bangkok

The Flood Relief Operations Center (FROC) has released its latest flood updates last night at 18.00 hrs. s on the current situation in Bangkok.

Residents of Don Mueang, Bang Phlat, Sala Thammasop and Thawi Watthana have been told to evacuate earlier today due to fast rising flood water.

Don Mueang became water logged due to an overspill from Khlong Prem Prachakon while similar incident had also been reported at Khlong Rangsit near Phahonyothin rd.

The runoff from Bang Kruai district of Nonthanuri caused the area in Bangplad to flood. Barriers erected in the said area buckled while the water level in the Chao Phraya River began to rise higher than expected.

Barriers along the embankments of Khlong Maha Sawat and Khlong Khun Si Burirak have been partially breached, causing Thawi Watthana to flood. Repair works on the damaged spots have been underway.

The FROC is keeping the situation under surveillance in Sai Mai, Lak Si, Bang Khen, Lat Phrao, Wang Thonglang, Khan Na Yao, Khlong Samwa, Nong Chok, Minburi, Lat Krabang and Thawi Watthana.

Water logged areas reported on Phahonyothin rd from the Monument to soi 54/1, on Vibhawadi rd from Don Mueang to Lak Si, on the entire Song Prapha rd, Sai Mai rd ( Wat Nong Yai to Soi Phoem Sin), on Chaeng Watthana rd ( Khlong Prapa to the military base), on Sirindhorn rd ( the Department of Highway to soi Rung Pracha), in front of Pata Department Store, on Soi Charan Sanitwong 41-45, Bhuddha Monthon intersection 2-3 ( the flood level reached 1 meter deep in Amon Chai Estate in Buddhha Monthln3), in Bang Phlat tunnel.

The FROC will be monitoring the water level in the Chao Phraya River from 28 to 31 October 2011.
