Production of Thai traditional medicine stepped up to help flood victims
The Department for Development of Thai Traditional And Alternative Medicine, together with hospitals across Thailand, is trying to increase the production of traditional medicines for flood victims while over 1,000 masseuses will be sent to the evacuee’s centers to help relieve their stress.
Director of the Department M.D. Supan Sritahmma, said medicines for coughing, diarrhea, gastritis, muscle pains, skin diseases and digestion are needed for people who have been affected by the floods.
The medicines are being distributed to flood victims across the country. Meanwhile, in an effort to reduce the stress level of flood victims, the Department for Development of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine will recruit around 1,000 volunteers who are experienced in the Thai massage therapy and those who have been trained in acupuncture to treat flood evacuees. There have so far been 2,709 people who have used the service from the volunteers.
