Charity polo match
Families are invited to join the Mercedes-Benz and B Grimm Polo Cup 2007, to raise funds for Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's vocational education project. The match will be held at the Thai Polo Club in Pattaya on Saturday.
The trophy presentation will be presided by Privy Councillor HE Palakorn Suwanrath.
There will also be a Mercedes-Benz exhibition, pony rides for children and music by the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, as well as games and prizes.
The event starts at noon and admission is free.

Meditation
The House of Dhamma offers meditation instruction in the north of Bangkok. Textile viewing
The Thai Textile Society's Collector's Corner is holding a private viewing of Sumiko Chotikavan's collection of embroidered hill tribe garments on Saturday, at Keosiri Everingham's house on Pradiphat Road, at 10:30am.
The items include shirts, jackets, skirts, trousers, children hats and an assortment of other items, made by the Hmong, Mien (Yao), Akha and Karen hill tribes from Thailand, Laos, Burma and China.
Wall hangings and reproductions of old masterpieces by well-known artists will also be on display.

Full moon Vipassana
The International Meditation Club is organising two Vipassana programmes. The first will be held at a private beach resort in Cha-am from February 2 to 4, and the second will be a workshop in Bangkok on February 17 and 18. Both will be conducted in English by international meditation masters. Limited places are available.

Book talk
The Oriental and Heaven Lake Press present a writers' salon talk by former Royal Court Security Police chief, Pol Gen Vasit Dejkunjorn, who will talk about his book In His Majesty's Footsteps: A Personal Memoir today, from 6:30 to 8:30pm in the hotel's Authors' Lounge.
The book, an English translation (by Busakorn Suriyasarn) of Pol Gen Vasit's Roy Phra Yugalabaht, chronicles the life and work of His Majesty the King during the politically turbulent 1960s and 1970s.

Italian cultural trip
Italian society Dante Alighieri, in cooperation with the Dusit Thani Hotel, will host a cultural trip to Italian architectural sites in Bangkok.
Participants will visit historical places such as the Victory Monument, the Ananda Samakom Throne Hall, Parliament House, the Democracy Monument, the Bank of Thailand, Wat Rachathiwat Wihan and King Rama I and Rama VI statues.
An introduction will be given by Paolo Piazzardi, the author of Italians at the Court of Siam. The trip will be held on February 3, from 9am to 1pm, and costs 500 baht for Dante members and 600 baht for non-members.
