EC to approve election results in 7 days

(BangkokPost.com) - The Election Commission (EC) will be ready to accept voting results in areas where no complications have been reported within seven days, according to EC secretary-general Suthipol Thaweechaikarn.

"We will now begin to work on reports we received before the election before starting on those that came in after the election," he said.

Mr Suthipol affirmed that the deliberation process will be carried out quickly as a new rule allows election commissioners in each province to set up their own investigative panel without having to wait for approval from Election Commission headquarters in Bangkok.

"We will assure fairness for all those involved," he said.
