PM's minister: I have proof of voting money

(BangkokPost.com) – Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office Thirapat Serirangsan claims to have solid evidence to prove that 60 million baht in cash, which authorities believe will be used in the election, had made its way into Thailand from Hong Kong.

“The immigration bureau is now on the case. We know roughly that the money was brought in by about 6-7 people in Hong Kong dollars. If the money was for a business investment, the first question to ask is why the money needs to be brought into the country in this way. The next question is, how will the money be spent?” Mr Thirapat said.

Despite the evidence at hand, Mr Thirapat said the matter will not be deemed as an illegal act until a complete investigation has been carried out by the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC).

Mr Thirapat declined to link the emergence of the case with reports that ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was currently holidaying in Hong Kong, vowing only to let the results from investigations do the talking.
