WOMEN'S MARATHON
Distance proves no object for victor Sunisa

Nakhon Ratchasima _ Sunisa Sailomyen won the women's marathon yesterday when four distance events were contested in athletics. Sunisa crossed the line in 2:43:33 hours to beat Burma's Pa Pa who clocked 2:44:11. Jho Ann Banayag of the Philippines came in third in 2:44:41 hours.
''This is my first SEA Games gold medal after finishing third and second in my two previous Games,'' said Sunisa.
''I trained very hard and was confident that I would win. I felt so strong that I could continue running.''
There were no Thais on the podium in the men's marathon after their best hope Boonchu Jandacha was forced to retire because of an injury.
The event was won by Indonesia's Yahuza Yahuza in 2:23:46 hours. Cambodian Bunting Hem picked up the silver in 2:26:.28 and the Philippines' Eduardo Buenavista the bronze in 2:27:21.
In the men's 20km walk, Malaysian Teoh Boon Lim bagged the gold in 1:30:37 hours. The silver and the bronze medal went to Indonesians Tobung Kristian Lumban and Indra who timed 1:32:57 and 1:35:45 respectively.
In the women's 20km walk, Malaysia's Yuan Yu Fang took the gold in 1:41:47 hours. Indonesia's Darwati finished second in 1:43:50 and Burmese Lar New Saw Mar third in 1:46:28.
