INTERNET SITE OF THE WEEK

We've covered a few podcasting sites over the past weeks and another that has recently grabbed our attention is The Podcast Network. Strange that it's been under our radar because http://www.thepodcastnetwork.com has valid claims to being the first Podcasting portal in the world.

The Podcast Network, or TPN, hails from Australia and was launched in February 2005 - hence its claim to being the first - and since then has produced over 4 million podcasts.The network covers a broad range of topics, divided into categories of General, Business, Gaming, Entertainment, Comedy, Sport, Lifestyle, Radio Drama, Education and - for Post Database readers - Science and Technology. Under the Science and Tech banner the range of subjects is also broad, with podcasts devoted to Macs, Microsoft developers, digital photography and the wider tech world.

The shows all have their own blog and RSS feed, meaning you can keep up-to-date on what they're going to be discussing in the coming podcasts as well as get an automatic notification of new material if you use an RSS reader.

There's also a general TPN blog, at tpn.thepodcastnetwork.com, that will keep you informed about what's happening on the various shows and with the network generally. So if you haven't caught up with the world of podcasting yet, or you want a great resource with lots of shows to choose from, The Podcast Network is not a bad place to start.
