If we talk about news presentation of each channel in Thailand, we will surely see various forms of presentation. Channel 9 or Modern Nine is a channel where each of the news announcers is prepared for his or her daily presentation of news and information.

Mrs. Rungnapha Chumchaiwet, a Modern Nine TV news announcer, Bangkok, revealed she has been in charge of news announcing in the morning from 06.00 – 07.30 for three years. News to be announced is composed of political news, economic news and others news sent by the news desk.

Sometimes she doesn’t believe that the news that she reads is really happening in Thailand, so she has to catch up with what is happening at that time, especially as regards to politics which changes all time. On behalf of a news announcer, she must check the news and stay informed by listening to other news sources at the same time.

News which impacts people in the whole country is gas prices, consuming goods prices etc which must be followed up to show whether they are higher, lower or still. As soon as a news announcer receives a piece of news from the news reporter, he must be well-prepared in transmitting it to audiences so they know what’s happening in the country at any given time. The news will be spread and broadcast to audiences in their daily lives, in other words, news reporting offers initial knowledge to the people.

“While I am reading the news, there is sometimes urgent news happening in Thailand such as floods, windstorms, disaster, car crashes with numerous dead or plane crashes in the country. It is my responsibility to report such news to audiences immediately so they know the situation.

For example in the event of plane crash in the Phuket Province, the news reporters must use their instinct to contact and interview concerning important persons to gain as much information as possible on how & why it happened and rearrange the information to be reported in sequential parts.” Said Mrs. Rungnapha.

Mrs. Rungnapha also added in 2007 the saddest news that shocked her completely while reading was the event of a plane crash in Phuket airport which killed numerous Thai and foreign passengers. Going back to her duty, she normally reads 40-50 pages of news each day and now channel 9 is improving news presentation making it as up-to-date as audience’s want it in the presenter’s proper character, in other words no acting, which makes the people feel that they are closer to us. Emotions can also include smiling and talking to each other, not only reading with a frown on their face.

Mrs. Rungnapha added she is a Bangkokian, graduated her bachelor’s degree in the faculty of Communication Arts, Bangkok University. After that she passed a test to be a news announcer of Modern Nine TV and now she has her own family. In her holidays, she always relaxes in Hua Hin where she can see an array of beautiful beaches.

Sometimes, she visits Hua Hin while annual traditional festivals were taking place e.g. the New Year Festival of Songkran or water spreading festival, Loy Krathong or Water Thanking Festival and other festivals held by Hua Hin Municipality. These festivals are beautiful in their meanings, so they must be well conserved in their place in the “Paradise City” forever.
